Uses of Kitchen Cabinets
By admin | July 19, 2011
Perhaps the most common, but usually taken for granted sight in the kitchen are the kitchen cabinets. Kitchen cabinets are usually located on the underside of countertops where everything is mostly kept. Well kept cabinets tend to look sleek and social, with an antique feel sometimes especially if it was made early in the 20th century. If you look at the internet and see the images scattered all over the net, it can be said that most of the kitchen cabinets have this wooden, “antique” feel as if it is hiding something behind its xylem doors.
Poetic or not, it does indeed hide something behind its knobs. What is usually kept inside kitchen cabinets are kitchen utensils like pots, soup pans, frying pans. Sometimes it could be used also to keep certain, typical, and highly spoilage-resistant kitchen ingredients such as salt, pepper, soy sauce, fish sauce, and vinegar. This could be kept for long periods of time without the risk of it becoming spoiled or anything near it. Those items could henceforth be used in a variety of dishes such as Mediterranean dishes, French dishes, Grecian-style food, Germanic food, etc. etc. Other things that could be kept inside kitchen cabinets may also include stored food and other containers, inside of which could be an assortment of instant milk-chocolate powder, milk powder, cocoa, and other sweeteners whose shelf lives are quite notorious.
Although kitchen cabinets are a powerful and reliable means of storage, certain conditions must be met if one intends to keep edible material inside. One, make sure that the kitchen is free from pests. Remember that some pests like cockroaches thrive in the dark and the damp; hence it is important to kill them off immediately. Second, check the spoilage date of the material. Make sure you follow instructions as regards it. Finally, check the temperature inside the cabinet. Hotter temperatures tend to speed up food spoilage.
